The Benjamin Franklin quote; “when the well is dry, we know the worth of water”, succinctly summarises the future challenges of recruitment: The impact of Brexit, the ageing workforce and the ongoing pressures surrounding the essential skills crisis, are all contributing to the dry-mouthed sweat, that is causing great discomfort in most organisations and sectors. The future scene is set and effective future planning now will dictate the outcome.
Unquestionably, EU exit has turned the heat up on an already parched Brexit morning, undoubtedly causing uncertainty and instability for the UK economy and therefore the labour market. According to the UK Office for National Statistics, around 2.3 million, or about seven percent of people in work, are nationals of other EU countries.
