Digital transformation with tech hiring strategies

Digital transformation in the media industry

Our customer, a Europe-based media group, recognised the importance of digital transformation in their industry.

Their strategy to shift from omni-channel messaging to diverse digital products was supported by company-wide changes.

These changes added many products to their portfolio, transitioning from a media company to a learning and media company.

With this company-wide transformation and several bolt-on acquisitions across the business, our customer turned to Pontoon. The goal of our Managed Service Provider (MSP) and Services Procurement solutions was to attract, engage, and retain the right talent.

Meeting talent demands

As our customer's business evolved, their talent needs had to align with organisation-wide changes.

Our supply chain had 80 active suppliers in our Total Talent solution, including MSP and Services Procurement programmes.

These suppliers had been effective in the past but struggled to meet the new transformation talent needs.

For example, there was a gap in mobile development and cloud expertise in the existing supply chain.

Leveraging the supply chain to evolve their workforce

To address supply chain gaps and build a future-ready system, we issued an RFx and identified new suppliers.

With new suppliers onboard, we collaborated to create a strong EVP and go-to-market strategy to attract and retain tech talent in Europe.

This shifted the mindset of tech workers from preferring tech giants to seeing opportunities in a media company.

Rapid organisational change was crucial to our customer's transformation efforts. We streamlined the sourcing and hiring process using a tiering system, a rate card, and tech-enabled processes through the Vendor Management System (VMS).

This ensured clear communication and visibility across the supply chain and with hiring managers.

A successful digital transformation and €3M cost savings

Our transformation of the MSP and Services Procurement supply chains, engagement of the tech worker market and speed of change has allowed the customer to take significant steps on their growth path.

They have evolved from a media company and remain competitive.

The cost savings achieved through our revamped Total Talent solution amounted to nearly 3 million euros. They have been reinvested in the customer's transformation efforts.

This further cements the partnership we have built over the last several years.
