Combating candidate fraud in remote hiring
Our multinational financial services MSP client needed to hire a large number of skilled technical contractors remotely. A surge in demand for technical workers during remote hiring exposed a critical risk: candidate fraud. Traditional screening methods failed to prevent unsuitable individuals from entering the process, creating security vulnerabilities and undermining efficiency.
To address this, we implemented Glider AI as a robust screening solution. This AI-powered technology enabled us to detect suspicious behaviour early, mitigate security threats, and ensure only qualified candidates progressed through the hiring process. As a result, fraudulent applications decreased significantly, allowing the client to focus on genuine talent and streamline their remote hiring strategy.
Deploying AI to screen and prequalify at scale
The on-site Pontoon team played a pivotal role in the Glider AI implementation and go-live process. We worked closely with the client, supplier partners, and the Glider AI team, hosting consultation meetings to set clear expectations and start to build out requirements. Additionally, we trained the Pontoon programme team, suppliers, and the client’s hiring managers on best practices for using the technology effectively.
AI proctoring and facial recognition monitored suspicious behaviours such as screen sharing, copy-pasting, and internet browsing. At the end of each assessment, the tool generated a probability score for fraudulent behaviour, allowing suppliers to review results and ensure only candidates with no red flags were shortlisted. This process gave hiring managers a complete picture of each candidate, guaranteeing that the individual interviewed was the same person who had participated throughout the hiring lifecycle.
