Preparing a global insurance company’s workforce for future skills

Preparing a global insurance company’s workforce for future skills

Summary

The rise of digital skills in financial services

With only 3% of banks intending to significantly increase their investment in reskilling over the course of the next three years, over half of digital talent is saying they likely will gravitate towards organisations that offer better digital skills development.

The gap between what financial organisations are planning to offer and what the talent in this space is seeking is large.

The challenge

Realising a major investment opportunity

Financial organisations putting upskilling and reskilling as a key investment will see great returns in both employee attraction and engagement, as well as being able to drive the necessary transformations in this sector over the coming years.

Our customer has realised this and therefore is making a major investment in this space.

By partnering with Pontoon’s sister company of General Assembly, they can prepare their workforce for the future skills they need.

How we helped

Training of 1,200 people over the next five years

The team at General Assembly partnered with our customer and focused on three main objectives in order to give the teams the future skills needed to contribute to the company’s overall transformation:

  • Implementing Skill Up, an academy for up/reskilling 1,000 staff members in key future skills
  • Insights on future skills, which helped the customer to prepare their Future of Work strategy through insights about future skills coming from the GA team

All courses offered to the customer were tailored to their team and industry including data, tech and UX key concepts.

Our customer’s teams are now able to realise and obtain skills on how to win customers and partners through digital channels.

They are also equipped with techniques and tools to make insurance products delightful for their users.

Impact

A high impact solution for the company

Six months into supporting our customer’s transformation objectives the GA solution has delivered:

  • 75 employees upskilled with skills to win customers and partners through digital channels and building products that users love
  • 20 employees reskilled with UX tools and techniques to make insurance products delightful for users
