Our client, a leading financial technology company, had 76 supplier partners within their contingent workforce programme. Pontoon helped optimise the supply chain and drive a unified process across all vendors.
While working within strict client timelines, we had to reduce the supply pool by 50% and simultaneously increase the total of diverse suppliers on the programme.
First, we assigned a dedicated Global Category Manager to drive this effort for our client. We thoroughly reviewed customer needs to pinpoint key focus areas and design a fit-for-purpose optimisation strategy.
Pontoon’s team conducted an RFP to screen all supplier partners carefully and decide whose services were optimal for a successful partnership with our client.
After the RFP, we introduced new rules of engagement for the optimised pool to drive excellent supplier performance across the board.
The RFP reduced the supplier list by 46%, while supplier diversity increased from 45% to 73%.
The optimisation we delivered resulted in a streamlined and well-structured supplier pool.
Reducing the supply chain led to increased competitiveness and more incentives for the participating suppliers, who are now more effectively aligned with their labour categories.
With more volume going through the streamlined supply pool, we increased quarterly volume rebates.
To the customer’s delight, supplier diversity spend also increased to 68%.
