How we improved rate card structure to drive efficiencies and cost savings

Summary

Streamlining client's rate card structure for time and cost efficiencies

Our pharmaceutical client struggled with a cumbersome and inefficient title taxonomy and rate card structure. After three years, the VMS had grown to comprise over 400 titles due to continuous updates. We spotted an opportunity to improve the rate card design while driving efficiencies that would bring significant time and cost savings.

The challenge

Creating a rationalised job category matrix

Pontoon’s team had to review +400 titles and job descriptions to map them to an updated and more efficient taxonomy. On top of that, we had to create a rationalised job category matrix and refresh rate cards with pay ranges for each new title.

How we helped

Enabling a streamlined taxonomy and rate structure

Our team of experts reviewed the legacy titles and, through benchmarking across our ecosystem, reduced them from over 400 to less than 60.

We added junior, mid, and senior skill thresholds to differentiate between experience levels and allow cost flexibility.

We introduced a streamlined taxonomy and rate card structure, allowing for faster decision-making and an expedited hiring process.

Impact

Realising process and cost efficiencies

After introducing the refreshed maximum market rates, the client achieved £175K in overall operational savings.

Our customer was delighted with the efficiencies we realised on the MSP front. This led to awarding Pontoon with an additional RXO opportunity.
