How optimised RPO programme drove success for an EV manufacturer

Summary

Our client – one of the world’s pioneering electric vehicle manufacturers and leading EV-OEMs – needed an optimised RPO programme for a high volume of skilled and non-skilled roles. Pontoon deployed a programmatic advertising tool and leveraged ATS functionalities to manage the talent funnel efficiently. As a result, Pontoon hired more than 4,000 workers in less than a year. This number increased to 6,000 in 24 months.

The challenge

To meet the customer’s talent demands for their electric vehicle factory in Germany, Pontoon needed to optimise all stages of the end-to-end recruitment process to reduce time-to-hire rates and manage hundreds of applications every week.

Since all phone-screened candidates had to take a manual test at the client’s assessment centre in Berlin, we also needed to establish close ties and efficient communication with the customer’s hiring managers.

How we helped

Pontoon’s programmatic advertising tool substantially amplified the job postings on our client’s career site. The number of applicants increased fivefold, averaging 500 per week – a result that could not be achieved without the tool.

Pontoon’s specialists expertly managed the candidate funnel in our client’s Applicant Tracking System, positively impacting the process flow. First, we ensured the candidates were assigned to one of the three key categories – ready to be phone screened, interviewed, or hired. Then, we updated their statuses as soon as they moved from one process step to another.

Pontoon’s team conducted up to 120 candidate assessments per day, four days a week. After progressing through our comprehensive phone screening process, we passed on highly qualified candidates to the client’s hiring managers for further interviews and testing. The whole recruitment process, including hiring manager feedback and candidate acceptance, was managed online.

Impact

In the first seven months of the programme, we conducted approximately 14,000 phone screens.

In just ten months, Pontoon’s team recruited 4,400 employees for our client.

Thanks to our efforts, the average time to fill was just five business days.
